The Problem With Dental Implants Just Might Be The Ridiculous Costs
When it comes to questions regarding dental implants the first issue is almost always about the cost. So, how much do they cost? Well, the best answer to that question is, "it depends". Ok, it depends on what?
First of all, an implant procedure, from start to finish, is not as predictable as filling or extracting a tooth, or even a Root Canal, for that matter. An implant procedure typically requires a tremendous amount of time and effort for both the doctor and his highly trained staff. To ensure a positive outcome, the prosthodontist must study and evaluate the patient's general health and specific dental profile in order to develop a plan for accomplishing the unique requirements. Such evaluations generally include a comprehensive examination, x-rays and a consultation with the patient, as well as, members of the implant team.
Then there's the cost associated with the surgical staff, lab facilities and technicians, all of which will likely perform multiple services while delivering a top quality product, contributing to a successful outcome. Additionally, implant prosthodontics construction require materials that are generally very expensive. Other variables, if required, impose considerable additional expenses and may include bone grafting and regeneration, and sinus elevation. As you can see, the costs are quite varied and can quickly escalate into a startling sum.
The next question asked might be, "why would anyone want to spend a huge sum of hard earned cash just for false teeth"? The answer has to be "functionality". Implants are much stronger and last a lot longer than traditional dentures or bridges. They may also be Used in combination with other procedures for maximum restorative effectiveness. An implant may be used to support a dental bridge, increase denture stability, while reducing irritation of gum tissue. Most importantly, as a result of their proven durability, implants offer a permanent solution to tooth loss.
Additionally, conventional dentures can contribute to bone loss in areas where teeth are missing, as the void may allow the bone to erode and weaken. The presence of an implant and subsequent fusion, or osseointegration, with bone tissue provides the same stability as natural teeth do. Above all, dental implants provide the same look and functionality as natural healthy teeth.
So, at the end of the day, it's really about the benefits. If you have loose fitting dentures, implants will eliminate that never ending frustration and discomfort. If you are missing teeth, not only will you look better (normal), but also you're going to enjoy a sense of renewed self-confidence. No more embarrassment or fear from smiling or speaking without covering your mouth. Dental implants allow for a return to a healthy and varied diet, without many of the restrictions imposed by missing teeth or dentures. Such a return to a healthy and confident lifestyle will help you feel, look and live better.
All things considered, the high cost of dental implants can generally be seen as the most affordable solution for many patients. Opting for the more permanent solution can help you avoid the long term costs associated with less permanent options for tooth restoration procedures. After more than 20 years of service, the vast majority of dental implants, performed in the United States, continue to function at peak performance. Most importantly, those who received the earliest dental implants are still satisfied with their decision. Sure, they're expensive, but if properly cared for, dental implants can last a lifetime.
