When we hear the word body armor, the first image that comes in our mind is the clanking metal that was Used in the battlefields during the ancient times. Today the body armor industry is on a rise and being propagated by teams of highly qualified experts who come up with a variety of body armors and bullet proof vests with the help of the sewing machine. The reason for this is that the modern day’s body armors and self-defense clothing are made up of the highly resistant fabric which can ensure a life protecting shield against the bullets fired from firearms, short range guns, sharp weapons like the knife and the arrow and the explosives like the hand grenades.
The body armors manufactured these days have a far more complicated theory and detailed analysis is done before selecting the material for making such armors. The modern day’s bullet proof vests are more flexible and light weighed and can be easily compared with normal clothing. In a tight situation, the safety it provides will make it easy for you to use these life guards. During the ancient time when body armor was invented, there were different armors used to protect different parts of the body.
The most frequently used item of body armor that is used today is the bullet proof vest and is used by different kind of people such as the law-enforcement forces, military and security guards. One of the items which are rarely used is the hard helmets which are mainly used by the forces during situations like riots. In certain uncertain situations, even high profile personalities and politicians are advised to use body protecting shields. Also, the personal ballistic protection is used by the common people to protect them from work related injuries. The first body armor in the form of Flak jackets made up of the nylon fabric was used in the Korean and Vietnam battle fields.
The latest soft body protection armors are made up of the fabric and are capable of defending the body against shoots and stabs. During the process of manufacturing, the material is properly tested and then used. After the bullet proof vests and other body armors are manufactured, they have to pass through several tests such as the ‘California ice pick test’. There are many different levels in ballistic attacks; level I, level II, level IIIA and level IV. These body armors are tested for each level and then released into the market to be used by the forces.
These body protecting armors are generally very expensive so it is advisable to get the body armors which are affordable and most effective at the same time. It is obvious that the bullet proof vests which are made from the more effective material will usually be thicker. The less disruptive items of the body armors are only capable of protecting you against the level I ballistic attacks. Generally, the grade III protective body armors are used by the forces and made sure that they fit perfectly and are the most comfortable ones.
