Making A DentistâS Office Clean

It is important to provide dental care for patients in a healthy, happy and comfortable environment. And it is more vital to make sure that the dental office is not a breeding ground for disease and infection. The first step toward creating a safe, sterile dental office is to sterilize everything you can sterilize and to properly cover everything that you cannot sterilize.
 What We Do at My Office
At my dental office, with all the proper dental technology and caring, professional staff, we do it properly. We put down plastic wrap on the Chair where the patient lies down, in between every patient. We use infrared sensors to turn the lights on and off to minimize the amount of time we spend touching the lights. And we wrap the handles of the Dental Light with waterproof tape and change the tape in between patients.
 Dental impressions are soaked in a sterilized solution for 25 hours before they are sent to labs. We wear disposable gowns and masks, as well as protective eyewear. And we have disposable non-latex gloves, in case people have latex allergies. My office is latex-free, and it is also nickel-free because of the increase in allergies to nickel and basic metals.
 We use as many disposable things as possible, including saliva ejectors — plastic tubes that are Used once and thrown away. All our handpieces get autoclaved along with all other instruments used in the patient’s mouth.
 In a short, we do everything we can to ensure things are as sterile as possible. So that people can rest assured that they are in a safe, sterile and caring environment.
